Values Little Effected by EPC’s
The Estates Gazette reported that energy ratings, introduced by the government in 2008, have failed to encourage tenants to take space in greener buildings. A recent gathering of nine valuers found that energy performance certificates had not had a noticeable effect on values. David Goatman, head of sustainability consultancy at Knight Frank, said the Carbon Reduction Commitment, which comes into effect in April, will have a far greater effect. It will require companies to buy permits for the energy they use.
